Minister Molefi Sefularo was killed when he lost control of his car on the N4 West of Pretoria.
He was traveling alone at the time. No further details are currently available.
Dr Sefularo was appointed Deputy Minister of Health by President Thabo Mbeki in 2008. He was re-appointed in May 2009 by President Jacob Zuma's new administration.
He was first appointed MEC for health in the North West in 1994 and was highly regarded by both government and the people of South Africa.
