In most countries, because of the health hazard it poses, there are stringent laws against tobacco but not so in Nigeria. Yet tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable deaths all over the world. Indeed, according to the former Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, "tobacco is one of the greatest emerging health disasters in human history".
